The Comenius PEACE team, formed by the students Ana Maria
Silva and Daniel Dias (TAI2 class) and teachers António Conde and Vasco Miranda traveled to Latvia.
After a bus ride of
about 4 hours, we arrived at Rēzekne (a small town near the school, in Mežvidi) that
welcomed us in a very warm way. Despite all the differences (climate, customs, habits and
traditions), we realized that what unites us is more significant than what
divides us.
As reference
points of this trip, we would like to highlight the host families reception,
the Welcome Ceremony, the cultural presentations prepared by each team, the
workshops of video editing techniques and art,
the participation in winter sports typical of the region, a party in the
snow, the visit to the Basilica of Aglona, the Bread
Museum, the tasting of regional dishes, the
traditional “Sweet Box Exchange”, a visit to an ecological production of
tomatoes, another visit to Mežvidi town mayor, the procedure at the border of Latvia
with Russia (EU border), the visit to the high school and school of arts and
music.
After the
formal ceremony of farewell and delivery of diplomas, where we were able to
witness impressive cultural and artistic dynamics, it was followed by a
decompression event, also traditional, accompanied by gastronomic specialties
very tasty!
